Formation Resources

At Desert Springs, we believe that growth is less about having it all figured out and more about being shaped — slowly, honestly, and together. It's about God working in the whole of who you are — your story, your questions, your experiences — and drawing you into something deeper. We don't walk that road alone.

Understanding Spiritual Formation

Spiritual formation is the ongoing process of being shaped into the image of Christ — by the power of the Holy Spirit, for the sake of others. At DSBC, we believe this happens through four interconnected dimensions of the whole person.

Embodiment

Formation isn't just about beliefs or behaviors — it's about the whole person. Your story, experiences, cultural identity, and personality are all part of the process of becoming.

Awareness

Growth begins with expanding our awareness of ourselves, others, and God. The deeper our awareness, the more we can embrace and respond to what God is doing in and around us.

The Love of God

Transformation thrives in the context of God's love — a safe space to fail and try again, to be encouraged and empowered, and to be drawn toward a flourishing life.

Engaging in Scripture Practices

There are many ways to engage the Bible — from reading to understand the story, to slower, more contemplative approaches that invite God to speak directly into your life. Here are a few practices and resources to explore.

A Note on These Practices

These aren't meant to be duties or boxes to check. They're invitations — ways of showing up and creating space. Try one and see what happens. If it doesn't connect right now, set it aside and come back to it later.
