Let's Talk Politics

This August, DSBC is beginning a new sermon series called The Body Politic, exploring how Scripture gives us wisdom for the way we think about and engage in politics.

Politics shapes how we understand power, pursue justice, care for our neighbors, and respond to conflict. Yet our political imagination is often formed more by partisan loyalties, social media, and political commentary than by the way of Jesus.

Throughout this series, we will consider how the Bible can reshape our political imagination and help us participate in public life with wisdom, humility, courage, and love.

Continue the Conversation

The sermons will introduce important questions, but they cannot explore every passage or practical implication. We are offering two ways to continue the conversation.

Beginning Wednesday, August 19, Pastor Caleb will teach a five-part class called The Politics of Loving Your Neighbor. The class will build on the sermon series and offer practical tools for discerning wise and loving political commitments. Participants will explore how Scripture guides our engagement with difficult issues, political disagreement, and the life of our communities.

The Big Idea is a new series of live theological conversations featuring scholars, pastors, theologians, and practitioners. Each gathering will include presentations, panel discussions, and audience Q&A.

Our first gathering, Political Theology and Civic Engagement, will take place on August 21. These gatherings are designed to help us move beyond quick answers and engage Scripture, Christian tradition, and the challenges facing the church today.
