Summer Nights, Politics, and Big Ideas

Dear DSBC Family,

I am so excited for the coming season at DSBC! As we finish out summer and head into fall (I know, I know—we don't really get fall weather in Phoenix, but we can hope 😉), there's a lot to look forward to, and I'd love for you to be part of it.

Two More Summer Nights

Join us on July 15 and July 22 for a fun, laid-back evening full of food, scripture, and great conversation. We'll start with a meal in the Worship Center, then kids, students, and adults will split into groups across campus. Adults are invited to join a study of Jesus' parables.

Talking Politics and The Bible

In August, we'll begin a sermon series called “The Body Politic,” exploring how the scriptures can shape (or reshape) our political imagination. As part of the series, I'll be teaching a 5-part class, “The Politics of Loving Your Neighbor,” starting August 19th.

My hope and prayer is that this series and class will equip us to live as faithful followers of Jesus in a time of political polarization and divisiveness.

And for those who want to go deeper, we're assembling a “Bible nerd” discussion group to explore many of the questions raised by this series. If that sounds like you, let us know using this interest form.

Introducing "The Big Idea"

Starting in August, we're launching something new. The Big Idea is a series of live conversations designed to help us think deeply about the questions shaping the church today. Each gathering will feature leading theologians, biblical scholars, pastors, and practitioners from around the country exploring a significant theological topic through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and audience Q&A.

Come Serve With Us

If you're looking for a spot to serve at DSBC, there are many opportunities. We're praying for two key areas in particular:

  • Safety Team — We're launching a brand new safety team. If you'd like to help keep our church family safe, apply here.
  • Community Group Leaders — We've seen an increase in people looking to connect to community groups. If you're interested in serving as a group leader or hosting a group in your home, fill out this interest form.

I pray that these opportunities to grow and serve would empower you to be with Jesus, think like Jesus, and love like Jesus.

Jesus loves you so much!
Pastor Caleb

P.S. As we gear up for back-to-school season, join us for our Fall Kickoff with water slides, froyo, and more! Come celebrate the start of “fall,” Phoenix-style. Bring your family, bring a friend, and bring a towel.
